Sushil K. Gupta, MD - Founder and Chairman
In
addition to his clinical and research activities, Dr. Gupta
has extensive experience at the crossroads of industry and
science. In 1983, he co-founded and provided the initial capital
investment for DataEase International, Inc., a publisher of
relational database software. He has also
served as Scientific Consultant to Vision-Sciences, Inc., a
publicly-traded manufacturer of endoscopy products, since its
founding in 1990. Most recently, Sushil served as Acting
CEO of NeuHealth, a
project
of Neuvis,
Inc. (since acquired by
IBM’s Rational Software division), and was on the board
of CareGain, a healthcare benefits software company.
Dr.
Gupta
holds a medical degree from the All-India Institute of Medical
Sciences and an executive MBA in healthcare management from
Binghamton University. Following an internship in surgery at
the Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York, he completed his surgical
residency at SUNY-Downstate Medical Center, and a fellowship
at the Montefiore Medical Center, where he trained under world-renowned
vascular surgeon Frank Veith. He is a Fellow of the American
College of Surgeons and a member of the Society for Vascular
Surgery, the International Society for Cardiovascular Surgery,
and the American College of Health Care Executives.
After
becoming frustrated with the restrictiveness and unreliability
of fiber-optic headlights, Dr. Gupta founded VisiLED in order
develop a better alternative. He continues to develop new products
and is responsible for ensuring that VISILED’s products
are grounded in clinical experience and consistent with the
highest standards of performance.
